Michael W. Zernikel

 

Michael Zernikel of Mount Pleasant, formerly of New Berlin, passed away in the afternoon hours of Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was 52 years old.  

Michael was born in West Allis on Oct. 31, 1968, the son of Viktor Zernikel and Gertrud Wolf Zernikel.  

He grew up in New Berlin and attended school in West Allis.

Michael had a kind and loving soul. He enjoyed attending local fairs and festivals. One of his favorites was the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Kenosha.  

He had an enthusiasm for superheroes.  His favorites were Batman, Superman and Spiderman. Michael always enjoyed dressing up as Spiderman for his birthday, which was on Halloween.  

Michael is survived by his mother Gertrud of Port Washington and his brother Dieter (Debra Oberlin) of Saukville. He is further survived by his nephews Jacob, Matthew and Christopher; his niece Kathryn; other relatives; and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his father Viktor and his brother Dr. Reiner Zernikel.

In accordance with Michael’s wishes, private family services were held. He was laid to rest by his father in Good Hope Cemetery in Greenfield.
