Mary M. Tinder
Mary Margaret Tinder of Grafton passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was 90 years old.
Mary was born in Ironwood, Mich., on May 8, 1929, the daughter of William Lloyd and Harriet Mabel (nee Williams) Burns.
In 1960, she was united in marriage to Talmon David “T.D.” Tinder. The couple first settled in Ironwood and later moved to Grafton, Wis.
Mrs. Tinder was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Cedarburg and the Grafton Senior Center.
She enjoyed quilting and knitting. She donated many quilts to area hospitals and nursing homes. She especially enjoyed making quilts for her family. She also made knitted hats for newborn babies and donated them to area hospitals.
Survivors include her sons Joseph Ben (Layla) Tinder of Wheaton, Ill., and John Robert (Jill) Tinder of Fredonia. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Peyton MacKay Tinder, Grace Tinder, Sarah Tinder and Emily Tinder; her sister Jeanne Louise Bennett of Ironwood, Mich., and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmon David Tinder, one sister, H. Gayle Burns, and two brothers, Robert William Burns and Dorr H. Burns.
Following Mary’s wishes, cremation will take place and private family services will be held.
Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family.
