Mary Lou Wagner

Mary Lou Wagner of Port Washington was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at the age of 89.

She was born May 19, 1933, in the Township of Red Cedar Lake, Wis., to John and Mary (nee Link) Drnek.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Elmer Wagner in Chilton, Wis., on Oct. 14, 1961, and together they had four children.

Mary Lou took great pride in her family and worked hard to bring love to everyone she came in contact with.

Mary Lou was a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate and taught home economics for more than 30 years in Wilmot, Johnson Creek, Port Washington and Grafton. All four of her sons have heard from dozens of her former students over the years about how nice she was and how great a teacher she was.

In retirement, Mary Lou was active in the Friendship Club.

Our family is very sad and will miss her greatly, but that is offset by knowing that Mary Lou lived a long life touching many other people’s lives through the years, and that brings us great joy and happy memories.

Those left to cherish Mary Lou’s memory are her husband Elmer; children Mike (Mary) Wagner of Grafton, Wis., Tom (Teri) Wagner of Surprise, Ariz., Rich Wagner of Hudson, Wis., and Dave (Dawn) Wagner of Saukville; grandchildren Emma, Evan, Ezra, Katie, Taylor, Austin, Madeline, Owen, Trent and Madison; and great-grandchildren Trey and Ellie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, WI 53074. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 a.m. to noon.

Mary Lou will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Grafton Education Foundation.
