Mary Ann Baertlein

Feb. 9, 1940 – Nov. 22, 2025

It is with profound love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Baertlein, who left this world surrounded by her daughters she cherished beyond measure.

She is survived by her daughters Dr. Elisabeth Baertlein, Dr. Krista (Christopher) Baertlein Leberfing, Renee (Joshua) Baertlein Terry and Alicia (Eric) Baertlein Hurd. She was the cherished grandmother of Mia Hurd and Cameron Hurd and loving sister-in-law of Jane Kreis, Mark Dymale and Eileen Harter.

She was proceeded to eternal life by her loving husband Lee Baertlein, parents Ray and Mary (nee Ricica) Kreis, brother Joseph Kreis, brother Raymond Kreis, sister Janet Dymale and son-in-law Joshua Terry.

Mary and her husband Lee were successful business owners for more than 36 years.

Mary’s life was a testament to devotion — devotion to her faith, to her family and to the love that shaped every chapter of her story.

Mary’s favorite subject, without fail, was her daughters and grandchildren Mia and Cameron. She spoke of them with endless pride, delighting in who they were and who they were becoming. Mary often said she loved them more than “the whole big wide world,” and her actions proved it. She taught her daughters about God, Jesus and the Blessed Mother, passing on a faith that guided her throughout her life and brought her comfort in the end. Mary is reunited now with her beloved husband Lee.

Mary had a private service with Father Matthew Jacob from Lumen Christi Catholic Church officiating. Her burial was at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.  Her final resting place is next to her loving husband, Lee Baertlein.

Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Service, Mequon, is assisting the family.
