Marvin H. Huiras

On Thursday, May 7, 2020, Marvin Henry Huiras, husband of Marion (Macek) Huiras, passed away at the age of 94.
Marvin was born on June 12, 1925, to Henry George Huiras and Louise (Jungers) Huiras.
He grew up in Belgium and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1943. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in 1950.
Marvin and his father Henry enlisted in the Navy Seabees in 1943 and received an honorable discharge in 1945. They owned and operated several taverns in Belgium and Port Washington and also developed a housing area in Belgium.
Marvin was active in the community, where he was a member of the Historical Society and a longtime member of Kiwanis Club and VFW.
On Oct. 19, 2001, Marvin married Marion at St. Mary’s Church. Marvin and Marion spent their time together in Port Washington and for the last three years have lived at Harbor Village.
Surviving relatives include his sister Shirley Weston, his wife Marion Huiras, Kristine (Keith) Resnick, Karin (John) McKelvey, Karl (Nancy) Macek, Kurt (Lynn) Macek, Kay Macek, Kolette (Benjamin) Salas, Sandra Jacobson, Sallie Schulz, Sue McLoughlin and John Decker.
Due to current circumstances, a celebration of life will be held later this year in lieu of funeral services.
