Maple sugarin’ events to be held at Riveredge
Riveredge Nature Center’s Maple Sugarin’ Season is underway and will include activities for youths and families.
The Nature Tots program will focus on “Sweet Treats from the Sugarbush” Wednesday, March 16.
The program for children ages 2 to 5 includes a hike to the 400-tree sugarbush to tap a maple tree, taste sap and then gather around the evaporator to see how boiling sap becomes syrup.
Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.
The fee is $4 for All Access members, $6 for Trail Pass members and $8 for nonmembers.
The Maple Sugarin’ Shindig will be held Saturday, March 19.
There will be two shifts, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. and from 12:15 to 2 p.m.
The event includes storytelling, a scavenger hunt and a tour of the grounds that ends at the Sugarbush House to see how sap is made into maple syrup.
The cost is $10 per family for All Access members, $25 for Trail Pass members and $35 for nonmembers.
The annual Riveredge all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast is set for Saturday, April 2.
People may sign up to have breakfast outside in the sugarbush during hour-long shifts that start at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and noon.
Mimosas and beer will be available for purchase, and maple sugarin’ season items will be for sale in the Nature Store in the Visitor’s Center, which will be open.
The cost for members is $12 for adults and $9 for children 12 and younger. For nonmembers, the fee is $15 for adults and $13 for children 12 and younger.
Riveredge is at 4458 Hwy. Y in the Town of Saukville
