Man with guns invoked school shooter’s name, threatened to kill, complaint says

A 38-year-old Saukville man who is accused of invoking the name of Stoneman Douglas High School shooter Nikolas Cruz while making homicidal and suicidal threats and was found to be in possession of five guns and a cache of ammunition was charged last week with making terrorist threats.

Kevin J. Griksas, also known as Alessa Raven Vul Dovah, whose address is listed as Motel 6, was arrested March 19 after telling a hotline worker he was going to kill the person handling his father’s estate, saying “blood would be shed” if he did not get his way, according to a complaint filed in Ozaukee County circuit court.

When police executed a search warrant, they found that Kevin J. Griksas had a revolver, a large quantity of ammunition, numerous holsters and a machete sheath in his motel room, according to the criminal complaint.

In his truck, officers found four guns — a .45 handgun, a 9mm handgun, a 30-06 rifle with scope and a 12-gauge shotgun — numerous boxes of ammunition, a large machete, two unloaded and two loaded magazines and a bag that contained a tactical blood-clotting agent used by military and emergency personnel, the complaint states.

They also found a glass pipe that smelled of burned marijuana in the center console of the truck, the complaint states.

The incident began when Griksas called the Washington County Adult Protective Services hotline and told the person who answered that his inheritance had been tied up in a trust for years and he “was not going to take it anymore,” the complaint states. He said he was not afraid to use his guns, saying he was going to “go down” like Cruz, who killed 17 people and injured 17 others in the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.

The hotline worker notified Saukville police of the call, and officers from the police department and the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hotel. Foster Drive was closed and customers and workers at nearby businesses were advised  to shelter in place.

Griksas continued his telephone threats to shoot someone even as officers were outside his hotel room, the complaint states, noting it took about an hour before he agreed to leave his room.

When questioned by police, Griksas said he believed the estate trustee was being deceitful and was working with the county sheriff’s office and Human Services Department, and that he would do whatever he had to in order to get his money, the complaint states.

When officers talked to the trustee, he said Griksas had spent almost all his inheritance, according to the complaint. The trustee also said Griksas had made previous threats to kill him that he did not report to authorities.

Griksas is charged with making terrorist threats while possessing a weapon, a felony punishable by a maximum 4-1/2 years in prison followed by 1-1/2 years extended supervision, as well as a $10,000 fine.

He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Circuit Judge Paul Malloy set bail for Griksas at a $15,000 cash bond. As conditions of bail, Griksas is to maintain absolute sobriety, not use any drugs except for medications prescribed to him, not to possess any weapons and to only have contact with the estate trustee in regard to the money issues.

A status hearing is set for Monday, April 1.
