Man convicted by jury of sex assault sentenced to prison

A 21-year-old man who was convicted by an Ozaukee County jury of sexually assaulting a woman who had been drinking at his Grafton apartment in 2022 was sentenced last week to 2-1/2 years in prison.

Lenny C. Oshiro, who now lives in Wahiawa, Hawaii, was also sentenced by Judge Steve Cain on May 6 to 2-1/2 years of extended supervision following his incarceration.

The jury deliberated just more than half a hour on April 16 before finding Lenny C. Oshiro guilty of third-degree sexual assault.

The investigation into the assault dates to Nov. 20, 2022, when at 12:25 a.m. Grafton police were called to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon for a report of a sexual assault. 

The victim told authorities that on Saturday, Nov. 19, she went to Oshiro’s apartment on 17th Avenue, where she drank several shots, noting she did not feel “right” after consuming them, according to a criminal complaint.

She said she then went to a bedroom in the apartment and was watching a movie with one of the men at the home when he began kissing her.

Oshiro apparently came into the room, took off her clothing and sexually assaulted the woman, who said she told Oshiro to stop several times but her ability to physically resist was compromised because she was drunk, the complaint states.

After the assault, the man who was initially with the woman left the room and Oshiro followed. A fight broke out that resulted in Oshiro being slammed to the ground.

When interviewed by police, the man who was initially with the woman said nothing sexual occurred in the room. 

But a friend of the man told officers that he asked to come talk to her shortly after the assault and when he arrived at her home he was shaking.

She said the man said he was kissing the victim when Oshiro came into the room, began touching her body and sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.

The woman said the man told her that he tried to get Oshiro attention and ask him what he was doing, but Oshiro ignored him.

The man later contacted the victim and apologized about what had happened, but then said Oshiro “didn’t mean it” and that “he’s a good guy,” the complaint states.
