Man caught with child porn as a teen faces new charges

nvicted of possessing child pornography while he was in high school six years ago was charged last week with the same offense.

Nicholas K. Bohn served a prison sentence for his 2013 conviction and was still under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections when earlier this month authorities discovered child pornography on a computer he was not supposed to own, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ozaukee County Circuit Court.

Bohn is charged as a repeat offender with one felony count of possession of child pornography. Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Steve Cain set his bail at $50,000 last week.

The latest case against Bohn unfolded when a DOC agent told authorities that he had discovered Bohn owned a cell phone and laptop computer in violation of his supervision rules. 

Bohn had created a Facebook account using an alias and an account on Grindr, a male dating site, the complaint states.

When questioned by authorities, Bohn said he purchased the computer for $25 through an online buy-sell-trade site in September. He said that although he used his cell phone, which he purchased on Oct. 1, to search for adult pornography, he had never used the laptop, according to the complaint.

On the laptop, authorities found three pornographic videos that appear to depict boys younger than 18, the complaint states.

Authorities also discovered that Bohn had used the computer to access his email account, which contradicts his claim that he had never used the laptop, according to the complaint.

Bohn was a 17-year-old senior at Ozaukee High School in Fredonia when in September 2012 an eighth-grader at Ozaukee Middle School told authorities that Bohn texted him multiple times, inviting him to have sex with him and perhaps other people and sending him lewd photos.

Authorities who searched Bohn’s laptop found 1,722 pages of pornographic images, at least 10 of which were child pornography, according to the complaint filed in that case.

Bohn was charged with child enticement and 10 counts of possessing child pornography and in July 2013 pleaded guilty to three of the pornography charges. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement but read into the record, which meant the judge could consider them at sentencing. 

Bohn was sentenced to three years in prison and six years of extended supervision. He also had to register as a sex offender.
