Local races, state court contest, referendums on April 3 ballot
The Port Washington mayoral race, which could determine the fate of development in the city, and the $14.95 million Northern Ozaukee School District referendum, which will shape the district’s building program, are among the reasons voters will turn out at the polls Tuesday, April 3.
There are also races for local governmental seats, such as trustees in the villages of Grafton, Fredonia and Saukville, as well as the Port Washington-Saukville and Northern Ozaukee school districts.
And two local leaders, Belgium Town Chairman Tom Winker and Belgium Village President Vickie Boehnlein, are vying to represent the 1st Supervisory District on the county board.
Voters will also have their say in the State Supreme Court race between Michael Screnock and Rebecca Dallet.
In the Port-Saukville School District, officials are seeking voters’ permission to convert a seat representing the towns of Saukville and Grafton — that has remained vacant for years — to one representing the entire district.
There is also a statewide referendum on the ballot, this seeking to eliminate the office of state treasurer.
Voters are reminded to bring photo identification — such as a driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport or certificate of naturalization — with them to the polls.
Anyone wishing to check their voter registration status may do so online at myvote.wi.gov.
Early registration continues through Friday, March 30, or voters may register at the polls on Tuesday.
The polls open at 7 a.m. throughout the county and close at 8 p.m.
