Lions accepting donations for annual deer hide drive
The Fredonia Lions Club is collecting deer hides to benefit the Wisconsin Lions Camp for people with disabilities.
Properly prepared hides can be dropped with Glen Moegenburg, N6490 Pioneer Dr., Fredonia.
The Wisconsin Lions Camp, located near Rosholt in Portage County, was founded in 1958 and serves about 1,000 disabled individuals a year. Camp activities are free.
In 2018, the hides program, operated through the Wisconsin Lions Foundation, surpassed $1 million in donations to the camp since the program started in 1988. More than 10,000 hides were collected last deer season.
Besides deer hides, cow, bear, elk and other hides also are accepted, as are squirrel and deer tails, which must be separated from the deer hide.
