Library group, food pantry team up during book sale

The Friends of the Grafton Library and Ozaukee Food Alliance are teaming up to spread the love of reading and joy of giving during the Friends annual fall book sale Thursday, Oct. 23, through Saturday, Oct. 25.

People who bring a non-perishable food donation to the sale will receive a free book. The food will be distributed to local families in need by the Saukville-based Ozaukee Food Alliance. 

In addition, the Friends of the Library will donate books left over after the sale to the Food Alliance’s Books and Bakery program, which allows guests at its Saturday community meals to select a free book.

The book sale will be held in the Grafton library’s lower level meeting room from 1 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23,  9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, and 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.

“We are so grateful to the Friends of the Grafton Library for reaching out with this wonderful idea,” Katie Draeger, outreach director for the Ozaukee Food Alliance, said. “We love a good food drive to help fill our shelves and provide variety for our guests, but we’re also huge believers in the power of readers.”
