LETTER: When will town officials wake up, act on 33-I intersection?

To Ozaukee Press:

Your editorial in the July 4 issue of Ozaukee Press regarding the hazardous intersection of Highway 33 and County Road I in the Town of Saukville and the need for a roundabout at that intersection was spot on.

Last week we saw yet another fatality. A car driver didn’t see a motorcycle and struck it, killing the passenger on the motorcycle.  

When will the Town of Saukville supervisors wake up and realize that a human life is far more valuable than tax dollars?

Obviously, three fatalities in the last five years have not been enough.  

As a Town of Saukville resident who drives through that intersection multiple times every day, I can attest to the speeding cars on Highway 33, especially during the morning and evening commutes.  

In the fall, when there is fog in the morning and visibility is almost zero, I cannot tell you how many times over the last 24 years I said a prayer before gunning my car across Highway 33 in case someone did not have their lights on and was barreling down Highway 33.
