LETTER: We voted out aldermen, let’s do same to Congress sluggards

I watch the news and feel like I’ve been through all this before. Just the names have changed. We had four years of “Get Trump” and we are currently in the cycle of “Get Evers” and “Get Biden.”

When are we the voters and taxpayers going to finally stand up and say enough is enough. Since the budget process was changed in 1977, Congress has only passed four budgets. Congress only has to pass 12 appropriation bills to pass a budget, and they can’t even do that.

We need to clean house. Liberals and conservatives love to twist facts and words to scare the voter. Congress works on an antiquated work schedule. Who needs to take two weeks off for the Fourth of July?         

They take the whole month of August off and leave Washington. That is only done because back in the old days they didn’t have air conditioning and Washington was humid. And the mode of transportation was a horse, not an airplane.

The country is basically bankrupt. We owe more in debt than what the country produces in goods and services. Our debt to GDP ratio is now 125.97%, according to the real time national debt clock.

I believe in global warming. Something has to be done. But get rid of gas cars? Use clean energy? Where do they think the electricity will come from? It has been shown that solar and wind power won’t be enough to charge all the cars.

We voted out of office local aldermen because we were upset at what they were doing in Port Washington. Why are we afraid to take that same anger and vote out the career politicians? You know, the ones who like to show off their gourmet ice cream being kept frozen in their $10,000 refrigerators while people are homeless and living on the streets just blocks from their campaign offices.
