LETTER: Recall officials who fostered Wisconsin data center influx

To Ozaukee Press:

How much were the elected decision makers in Wisconsin paid to allow data centers to blight our beautiful state?

They can’t pretend they benefit Wisconsin in any way. In fact, data centers have proven to be seriously detrimental and prohibitively costly wherever they are installed.

Why weren’t Wisconsin citizens given the chance to vote on their installation? Decisions of this magnitude need to be fully examined and brought before the citizens in a referendum—especially since there are anticipated tax obligations, increased utility costs and lowered property values inherently associated with proximity to these centers.

Why were Wisconsin citizens lied to by the installers in the group meetings—not just faulty information but outright lies that would affect perception?

Why lie about any aspect of projects this huge? Any lie connected with these projects should raise a red flag and would be grounds to nullify any agreement.

There are 30 of these data centers proposed in Wisconsin so far. This is something that will affect Wisconsin residents long after the usefulness of the data centers is over and citizens are then stuck with the cleanup and disposal of the abandoned centers.

This is grounds for a recall of every elected official who is associated with ramrodding these data centers into our beautiful state at the ultimate expense of the citizens and our natural resources.                             Jennifer Borkenhagen
