LETTER: Port’s historic Eghart House getting a tune-up at age 154

To Ozaukee Press:

The 1872 Judge Eghart House has been open for tours since 1970. Recently, the house has been showing its age, so repairs are needed. Thanks to generous donors, some of those repairs are in process. Passersby have noticed work being done on the front porch of the house. In addition, a new furnace has been installed. Still to come are siding, roof repairs and interior work.

The Judge Eghart House board of directors would like to thank the donors who have made these repairs possible. They include the Port Washington Lions Club, Vantage Data Centers, an anonymous donor with ties to Port Washington and the many Eghart House members who have contributed their financial support.

Soon, the Judge Eghart House will again stand proudly on the hill next to the W. J. Niederkorn Library to welcome visitors. The house will be open on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. starting Memorial Day weekend. Guides will share the story of life in Port Washington during the Victorian Era. Won’t you come to visit us?
