LETTER: Ideal of an informed public set back by NPR, PBS funding cuts

To Ozaukee Press:

As a county that can cherish having two local papers, we know we are blessed. At the same time, the loss of news in so many other ways is totally unacceptable. We have seen the government cut back on funding NPR and PBS. Now we hear that the historic 100-year-old CBS Radio News will be shut down. Who does this serve?

In the late 1700s, uncensored newspapers were sent by mail to all the homes. The leaders of the new nation knew how important an informed public was for a thoughtful and united country.
