LETTER: Huge festival tent was preview of Blues Factory ‘monstrosity’

Last weekend’s Pirate Fest at the Port Washington lakefront, which featured a huge tent filling the north slip lot overlooking the harbor, gave a preview of the monstrosity the Blues Factory (looking like a warehouse) would be on the same site.

There have been so many complaints about the sale of that property to a developer who has been prominently developing major properties in the downtown area. Common Council members: Make this “chosen developer” sell the property back to the city at face value or condemn it.

Please reacquire the land for the public and create an open-space master plan. We need to see the sky over Lake Michigan on the horizon. We need to see the church steeple. We need safe walking spaces and planned traffic patterns.

But most importantly, we need to think of future generations and ensure there will be open space for them to enjoy the beauty of the lakefront.
