LETTER: Grothman is out of step, has been in Congress far too long

To Ozaukee Press:

Wisconsin’s 6th District has been represented by Glenn Grothman far too long, and many of his positions are out of step with the needs of working families today. It is time to consider a new direction.

Brad Smith offers a different approach, one rooted in practical experience and community values: The economy should work for everyday people, not just billionaires, corporations and special interests.

A lifelong Wisconsinite raised in Neenah, deer hunter, National Guard veteran and business leader, Smith emphasizes lowering costs, supporting working families, ensuring Wisconsin communities are not sold out to corporate greed and protecting personal freedoms. His education and business background reflect a broad understanding of the challenges facing our state.

Grothman, who never served in the military and has a reported net worth over $1 million, has opposed measures on public education funding and healthcare expansion; supports restrictions on personal rights; has voted to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security; and is opposed to red flag laws.

Smith supports making education more accessible, strengthening health care systems, especially in rural areas, and ensuring economic growth benefits for workers, not just corporations. He also advocates for responsible gun ownership and a balanced, humane approach to immigration.

This election is a chance to move Wisconsin forward, and I believe Brad Smith is the best person to represent Wisconsin’s 6th District as our next congressman.
