LETTER: Forget life as we know it if we didn’t have data centers

To Ozaukee Press:

A growing number of people are coming out against data centers. But what would our lives be without these centers? 

     No more social media. No more cat videos on TikTok, YouTube, et al. No more streaming of entertainment into homes. No more online gaming for free. No more online purchases. No more loyalty cards. No more saving 10,000 pictures and screen-shots. No more earlier and better diagnosis of cancers and other maladies. No more online banking and payments. No more information searches. No more mapping apps. No more Siri and Alexa. No more camera doorbells. Phones would go back to being just a phone. 

     These are just a few things data centers do for us. I would ask people that are against data centers to do a search (using a data center) for “things that would disappear without data centers.”

     I agree that there are issues that must be dealt with in regard to data centers. But  don’t blame the centers. We are the ones that ask for, even demand, and use all the services, all the benefits, that data centers give us. Maybe we are the problem.
