LETTER: Flag Day role for girls’ Scout BSA troop was an honor and a first
To Ozaukee Press:
I am so excited to share with your readers that my Scout BSA troop was the first and only female troop to participate in the National Flag Day parade on June 9 in Waubeka.
I am proud of all of the scouts in my troop who came to show pride in our country and to represent all scouts. As we marched, I saw surprised faces and then heard cheering for my troop. And I was proud to be able to lead my troop knowing how my fellow scouts feel about our amazing country.
We marched to represent our Scout BSA values and our beliefs in our country’s principles. There was no doubt in my mind that it showed to all of the people who saw us march.
I am grateful that the National Flag Day Committee gave us the opportunity to participate this year, and I want to thank all of the people who cheered us on.
Annastasia M. Wischki
Senior patrol leader
Scout BSA Troop 6888
Saukville
Editor’s comment: Scout BSA is a new program offered by the Boy Scouts of America that is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 17. Both are eligible to earn the organization’s highest rank, eagle scout.
