LETTER: Don’t be complacent, do your part to bring nation together

To Ozaukee Press:

We are less than a week away from the midterm elections that will decide the future of the remaining two years of the Trump term. I must agree with the letters to the editor in the last few issues of Ozaukee Press from readers who say change is needed. I agree that Glenn Grothman must go. We don’t need a Trump rubber stamp politician. We need a person who will represent us and not Trump. That is why I will vote for Brad Smith.

I have not found a single person who can recall if Grothman ever distanced himself from the Trump video depicting the Obamas as apes. Or Trump depicting himself as Jesus Christ healing people.

Trump came into his second term saying he will make us great again. What have we gotten so far? Higher gas prices, a war we shouldn’t have started, unaffordability and Trump making Washington D.C. in his image.

We now have a national debt over $40 trillion. Our debt is more than the total amount of all goods we make in a year in the U.S. Our debt service is now more than our military budget.

Let’s remember that Trump recently stated that “tired of talking about affordability” and that we need to “suck it up on high gas prices.”

We can make America great again if we would only come together and work together. We as the taxpayers and voters need to be involved more. Don’t sit back and not vote or vote just because you recognize someone’s name.

Our Founding Fathers envisioned a government where ordinary people would do some public service and then move over and let someone else step up, not make it a career. We have another opportunity to change our future. The question is, are we finally going to do our part?
