LETTER: Climate changes not in realm of belief—it’s a scientific fact

November 07, 2018

To Ozaukee Press:

A friend just gave me a copy of the Oct.18 issue of Ozaukee Press. Not being a climate skeptic, I truly enjoyed your editorial, “Breaking news: It’s not a hoax!”

Fortunately, Donald Trump has changed his mind about the existence of global warming. Unfortunately, based on international scientific analysis, climate change will only worsen and not, as the president suggested, “go back and forth,” if we humans continue to extricate and burn fossil fuels.

Climate change is no longer in the realm of belief. As your editorial pointed out, climate change/global warming is a fact. As Neal deGrasse Tyson, an American author, science communicator and astrophysicist, said, “The good thing about science is that it’s true, whether or not you believe in it.”
