LETTER: City had affordable housing offer but wasn’t interested
To Ozaukee Press:
This is in reference to Port Washington Mayor Ted Neitzke starting a taskforce for affordable housing as reported in last week’s Ozaukee Press.
I thought that is what the Cindy Shaffer project called The Farm was supposed to be about. The Common Council and the mayor made the developer jump through many hoops and redesigns and then just quit dealing with her with no explanation.
Now Shaffer is mad (rightfully so in my opinion) and is suing the City of Port Washington for millions of dollars. How far would that money go in reducing housing costs?

Editor’s note: Shaffer’s proposal was for 263 residential units, some which she said would be “economically priced” to address the need for affordable housing.
