LETTER: Candidate’s priorities: school social worker and safer schools
To Ozaukee Press:
For the past four years I have worked hard to meet people and to be a contributing member of the community. I have been appointed to the Port Washington Parks and Recreation board, joined the Port Soccer Club board and the PWYB board. Through these groups I have met many wonderful people, strengthening my belief that the Port Washington-Saukville community is the perfect place to raise a family.
If elected to the Port Washington-Saukville School Board, I plan to work toward securing a school social worker. I want to put into place a system to help identify high-risk students who may need more services.
It will be imperative to make our schools safer. We need to work with specialists to find weaknesses and solutions to safeguard our schools. To help fund these and other initiatives, I will look hard at the budget to find efficiencies by working with key leaders.
I want the challenge to help the school district meet its responsibility to educate and guide our students. To do it well, I will use the old-school tactic of going out to talk with people to help solve our schools’ concerns. I believe I can help enhance the district’s relationship with businesses, parents and organizations.
