LETTER: Burying the truth of murder by ICE desecrates U.S. justice

To Ozaukee Press:

I’d like to report a murder. The murder occurred last week in Minneapolis.

I admit I didn’t witness it, but it was committed in broad daylight and filmed multiple times from every conceivable angle. It’s difficult to imagine that any objective, fair-minded person can look at those videos and not conclude that a smiling, non-threatening, 37-year-old mother of three was viciously and senselessly murdered on that suburban street.

I believe that any impartial jury selected anywhere in the U.S. having once reviewed those videos would draw the same conclusion; and I have no doubt that Donald Trump and his acolytes completely agree with me.

That is the reason there will be no effort by the administration to ferret out the truth of what occurred on that sunlit street and the reason that JD Vance is crying “immunity” for the perpetrator.

It’s obvious already that no legitimate investigation will be attempted. Donald Trump himself has ordered that no evidence will be shared with local or state authorities. Instead, federal officials from Trump on down have begun slapping together a crazy quilt of fabrications, distortions and contradictions, and are demanding, once again, that the intentionally blind, deaf and gullible fall immediately into line.

The MAGA faithful are being bombarded by an unending Fox News effort to torture whimsy into fact. Once again, and sadly, like so many times before, we are being pressured into accepting absurd lies over the clear evidence of our own eyes and ears.

Frankly, the murder itself is not as horrific to me as the sick, corrupt attempt by Trump and Noem and Vance and others to bury the truth of it. Their scripted lies are not only a perversion of truth but a desecration of American justice.
