LETTER: ‘Dirty’ voter roles threaten to stain voting-by-mail integrity

    Trump is right to suspect voter fraud in states that are doing mass mailing of election ballots. Under the Constitution, every state runs its own elections, not the president.  
    The president’s concern over mass mail-in voting is “dirty” state voter rolls. Gov. Evers is encouraging dirty voter rolls by ordering county clerks to break the law. Current law requires Wisconsin voter rolls to be updated 30 days after receipt of a returned postcard following an address change. The governor is ordering clerks to wait 200 days to update voter records. This allows multiple people to be listed at the same address who do not live there but are still eligible to vote. Who will cast those ballots?
    There is a lawsuit pending in our state Supreme Court to require Evers to follow the law and clean up the voter rolls in a timely fashion.
    Democratically run states are jumping on the bandwagon to go all-in and mass mail ballots, although they are not prepared to secure those ballots from fraud. Fortunately, the Wisconsin Legislature did not allow mass mailing of election ballots since voter eligibility and ballot security cannot be verified.
