Leonard John Novack

Leonard John Novack, age 69, of Belgium, Wis., bravely fought a difficult battle with cancer and found peace on Oct. 28, 2026.
Leonard was born on June 14, 1957, in Port Washington, Wis., to Leonard and June Engelbrecht Novack.
He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port High.
On Oct. 3, 1987, he was united in marriage with Joan Schmitz Novack, and together they raised two amazing sons, Brandon and Connor Novack. He worked hard throughout his life and cherished all his co-workers at Trak International and Ball Corp., where he worked hard for many years to take care of his family.
Throughout his life, he was known for being the most loving and hilarious guy you could know. Whether you knew him as a family member, friend or even as a stranger, he was going to make you feel loved and special. He enjoyed and loved so many things, but nothing more than spending time with his family. He adored his wife, Joanie, from when they met about 41 years ago (married 39 years). He would get so excited, every time, in anticipation of his boys, daughters, and grandchildren coming over to the house to spend time with him and Joanie.
Whether you called him Leonard, Len, Leo or Lenny, you felt his immediate love and kindness and heard his big laugh. He enjoyed catching up with friends at Starbucks or reminiscing with his dear friends from “way back.” Leonard loved making anyone and everyone laugh so hard, as he often laughed the hardest.
He loved cheering on his favorite Bucks, Brewers and especially the Packers (sometimes yelling at them more than cheering), and loved texting his sons about or watching the games with his family the most. Leonard also enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his family and friends.
He loved all his roles in life as a husband, dad, brother, uncle, son and friend, but we all agree his favorite role in life was being Papa to his adored and ever-so-loved Hensley and Hudson. Leonard cherished all of his loved ones, as they were always on his mind and in his heart. To know him was to love him, and to be loved by him was one of life’s most precious gifts.
His life was a gift, his love was immeasurable and his memory will forever be a treasure.
Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joanie Novack; children Brandon (Jenna) Novack and Connor (Sarah Bregant) Novack; adored grandchildren Hensley and Hudson Novack; father-in-law John Schmitz; his sisters Lynn (Butch) Plier and Gail Riley; sister-in-law Jean (Calvin) Van Ess; brothers-in-law William Schmitz, Daniel (Pam) Schmitz, Ronald Schmitz and James (Kate) Schmitz; as well as the countless nieces and nephews; extended family members; Starbucks family; and many friends. He was deeply loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and June Novack, his mother-in-law Mary Schmitz and his nephew Jonah John Van Ess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel (5330 County Highway B, Belgium, Wis.).
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday at the church, from 3 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.
A private inurnment will take place at Lake Church Cemetery.
The family sincerely thanks all of the wonderful nurses, doctors and hospital staff at Froedtert who took exceptional care of Leonard while he underwent cancer treatments.
No flowers will be accepted as the family has allergies to floral arrangements. Memorials in Leonard’s name may be made to the MACC Fund or Kathy’s House.
