Lentz, Glaeser, Utecht stand out for Warriors
A return to Mishicot last Thursday brought the Ozaukee High School track and field teams some impressive results.
“It was another great night for a meet. Our athletes took advantage of conditions that were about as good as you can ask for and turned in some strong performances, including several personal bests,” coach Chris Utecht said.
The boys scored 67 points and finished fifth of nine teams. Manitowoc Lutheran won with 152.
Jack Lentz led the way by winning the shot put with a throw of 49 feet and the discus with a toss of 153-11.
Fritz Hoffmann was second in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.48 seconds.
The 3,200 relay of Hoffmann, Wyatt Borchardt, Ayden Hartmann and Nicholas Schubert was second in 9 minutes, 3.17 seconds.
Braydon Lowrance-Eischen was third in the shot put with a throw of 42-10. Schubert was third in the 3,200 in 10:00.57.
Field events lead Warrior girls
The Ozaukee girls scored 42 points and finished seventh. Mishicot won with 136 points, nipping Kiel’s 134.
Helen Utecht was third in the shot put with a throw of 31-6.5 and in the discus with a throw of 100-5.
Kennedy Brown was fourth in the discus with a toss of 88-8 and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 31-0.75.
Madison Glaeser was second in the 3,200 in 12:33.7.
The 3,200 relay of Maggie Hoffmann, Katelyn Gomez, Eva VanMinsel and Glaeser was fourth in 11:28.1.
Warriors take third twice
Both teams finished third in a five-team Big East Conference meet in Mishicot last Thursday.
The boys scored 83 points. Manitowoc Lutheran scored 207 and Mishicot had 114.
Lentz won the shot put with a throw of 49-10 and the discus with a throw of 148-3. Schubert won the 1,600 in 4:52.84. Hoffmann won the 300 hurdles in 44.43 seconds.
CJ Dvorak was second in the 100 in 12.21 seconds. The 1,600 relay of Hoffmann, Borchardt, Hartmann and Schubert was third in 3:58.81.
Luke Hamm was third in the shot put with a throw of 43-8.5.
The Warrior girls scored 75 points. Mishicot won with 173 points. Manitowoc Lutheran was second with 136.
Utecht won the shot put with a throw of 33-1.5. She was second in the discus with a throw of 86-4.
Lilia Steinert was second in the high jump, clearing 4-6.
The 1,600 relay of Hoffmann, Gomez, Steinert and Glaeser was second in 4:57.09. Glaeser was second in the 1,600 in 5:54.43. Ayva Johnson was second in the 200 in 30.52 seconds.
Random Lake meet can’t finish
An April 14 six-team meet at Random Lake was cut short due to weather. Teams completed 10 of 17 events.
For the Ozaukee boys, Dvorak won the 400 in 59.08 seconds and Lowrance-Eischen was second in 59.77. Dvorak was fifth in the 100 in 12.15 seconds.
For the girls, the 3,200 relay of Gomez, Hoffmann, VanMinsel and Glaeser was second in 11:47.61.
Steinert was second in the high jump, clearing 4-6, and third in the 400 in 1:15.3.
Johnson was second in the long jump with a leap of 13-11.5 and third in the 100 in 14.16 seconds.
Macie Morgan was fifth in the high jump, clearing 3-10.
Ozaukee competes in the Glen Funk Invite at Kohler on Friday, May 1.
