Leidel, Schowalter, Lemke shoot low in conference meets

Grafton High School senior Jake Leidel shot a 79 on the Irish Course at Whistling Straits, good for third in the North Shore Conference Meet on May 19.

“He had one tough hole on the front. Other than that, he played well. He rolled in a nice birdie on 18, which is huge as far as getting him to break 80 out there,” coach Phil Trottier said.

Other team scores were: Braxton Boehlke, 90; Kendyl Conrad, 92; Jack Birmingham, 93; and Nate McCallister, 94.

Grafton shot 354 and finished sixth of seven teams. Homestead won with 325.

Port Washington’s Jack Schowalter shot 81 at the Washington County Course and finished sixth in the Glacier Trails Conference on May 20. Other scores were: Eric Krentz, 83, tied for 10th; Brady Schmit, 92; Cooper Giese, 98; and Gabe Jerome, 99.

Port shot 354 and finished fifth of seven teams. Plymouth won with 325.

Port and Grafton were to play in a Division 1 regional at Quit-Qui-Oc in Elkart Lake on Tuesday, May 26. The sectional is Friday, May 29, at Rolling Meadows in Fond du Lac.

Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Lee Lemke shot 82, tying for 11th at the Big East Conference Meet at Sheboygan Town and Country on May 19. Other Rockets’ scores were: Jack Meinen, 86; Evan Halleman, 109; and Michael Mazzotti, 120.

The Rockets had 397 strokes and finished last of 10 teams. Kohler and Oostburg tied at the top with 330 each.

Random Lake/Ozaukee had an incomplete team. Daigan Hiranicka shot 105 and Dylan Dvorak shot 130.

The Rockets were to play in a Division 3 regional at Autumn Ridge in Valders. The sectional is at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.
