Legislator receives WEDA champion award
The Wisconsin Economic Development Association recently presented State Sen. Jodi Habush Sinykin (D-Whitefish Bay) with its Champion of Economic Development Award for her leadership on legislation to boost economic growth.
Habush Sinykin’s efforts will help promote local housing development, strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce and drive community revitalization across the state, the association said.
The award was presented at the Waukesha County Business Alliance.
“Her legislative work at the State Capitol will promote critical housing development and community revitalization in the 8th Senate District and across Wisconsin,” Michael Welsh, the association’s vice president of legislative affairs said.
Habush Sinykin earned the award for her work on legislation to address some of the state’s biggest economic challenges and provide communities with the tools to drive local economic activity.
Her support for key legislative proposals included the improvement of local financing tools for residential infrastructure and housing development, as well as stronger incentives for community development.
“This recognition is especially meaningful to me because as a small business owner myself, I am keenly aware of the economic and workforce challenges facing Wisconsin families today, from housing and health care costs to child care availability to rising prices across the board,” Habush Sinykin said.
Habush Sinykin, who was elected to the Wisconsin Senate in 2024, serves on several key legislative committees, including the Senate Financial Institutions and Natural Resources Committees.
