Legion Riders to trek through county in June

The Wisconsin Legion Riders will come through Belgium and Port Washington next month on their annual “Cruise for a Cause.”

The group of motorcyclists, which typically numbers from 50 to 75, will travel from the Superior Legion Post 435 south through Wisconsin starting on June 28 to the Orfordville post 209 on June 30.

Along the way, more motorcyclists join the caravan.

The group will stop at Belgium Legion Post 412 on June 29, rest and then begin their journey again on June 30 at the Van Ells-Schanen Post Hall in Port Washington.

The group will leave the Port Legion hall at about 8 a.m., traveling along Franklin Street, Grand Avenue and Highway 32 as it heads out of the city.

Legion members urge residents to line the streets and cheer the group on during their trip, which will be led by the State Legion commander.

Funds raised by the Legion Riders this year will go to the Wisconsin American Legion Troop and Family Support Fund and the Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary Homeless Women Veterans Grant Fund.
