Legion post to mark Memorial Day with a morning of events in Saukville

The Landt-Thiel American Legion Post in Saukville will mark Memorial Day with a morning of events on Monday, May 25, starting with a prayer service and 21-rifle salute in Union Cemetery.
Then there will be a parade from the cemetery along South Main Street to Veterans Park for a program.
The program will include a speaker who will reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day, a performance by the Port Washington High School Band and the laying of a wreath.
The Legion will also honor the students who received its Citizenship Awards and scholarship and a young man who has enlisted in the U.S. Navy, as well as the Badger State girls and boys sponsored by the Legion.
The program will conclude with a rifle salute, the playing of taps and bagpipe music.
The public is invited to a light lunch at the Legion Post Hall at 601 W. Dekora St. following the program.
