PAID OBITUARY

Jean “Jeanne” C. Sharp, age 93, of Lac du Flambeau, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Aster Assisted Living in Cottage Grove.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1924, in Port Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Isabelle (nee Johannes) Hollrith.

Jean graduated from Grafton High School and attended Marquette University business classes.

She and her husband Don were married in 1946. They were married for 67 years.

They spent 27 years in Sheboygan before moving up north. They also resided in Fountain Hills, Ariz., for many years during the winter months.

Jean was a 50-plus year member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau and was especially active in the Women’s Club. In 2017, St. Anthony’s Women’s Club established a college scholarship in her name to honor her legacy.

She was also a lifetime member of the Howard Young Medical Auxiliary and Elks Club.

She enjoyed arts and crafts fairs, knitting, reading, playing card games, entertaining and cooking. She delighted in her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Jean knew that she lived an active life guided by her faith, her love of family and friends and serving her church and community. Her positive attitude, ready smile and generosity will be missed. Her zest for life was an inspiration for all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don in 2013.

She is survived by her children Sherry (David) Hitztaler of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Michael S. Sharp of Mableton, Ga., and David (Julie) Sharp of Madison; four grandchildren, Stephanie Hitztaler (Jani Onninen), Elizabeth (Josh) Hitztaler Stone and Alex and Will Sharp; and four great-grandchildren, soon to be five.

 A memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, with a gathering of friends and family one hour before the Mass.

Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grafton at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018.
