Learning about Port Washington’s first responders

The Port Washington police and fire departments held open houses on Sunday, Oct. 10, giving adults and children alike a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to be a first responder. One youngster gave a member of the dive team a high five through the glass. Mike and Charlotte, 3, Lindsey (far left photo) joined reserve officer Ryan Haas in a cutout of a police squad car as they snapped a photo and learned what it’s like to be on patrol. Finn, 5, and Cole, 3, Janke (left photo) prepared to help firefighter Scott Ziegler with a fire extinguisher.
