KUDOS: Community stepped up for those running and walking for a good cause

On behalf of Portal, Inc., I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making our 34th annual Fish Day Run/Walk on July 20 a huge success. Proceeds from the run/walk are used to provide services and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The remarkable enthuisiasm for this fundraiser shows that people truly care and want to help achieve the mission of providing meaningful opportunities for the individuals served by Portal.

First of all, thank you to Port Washington Fish Day for providing a venue for the run/walk. The route provides a challenging but picturesque experience, which is greatly enjoyed by all of the runners and walkers.  

We also thank the Port Washington Police and Fire Departments for their efforts in ensuring the safety of all the runners and walkers; the sponsors who offered financial and inkind support; and the citizens of Port Washington who provided encouragement and water along the route.  

The time and effort of more than 150 volunteers pre-race and on race day was instrumental in creating an organized, fun event and is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to the good work and generous support of so many in this community, the Fish Day Run/Walk is a unique and popular event that helps a wonderful cause. The run/walk will return for next year’s Fish Day on July 18, 2020.
