Kathi Schmidt

Kathi L. Schmidt, 64, died at her Port Washington home Sunday, April 8.

Mrs. Schmidt was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Dec. 22, 1953, to Donald and Jeannine Bradley Clarke.

The family moved to Grafton when she was a child and she graduated from Grafton High School in 1972.  

On Nov. 12, 1983, she married Greg Schmidt in Brookfield. The couple settled in Port Washington, where they raised their family.  

After working for 10 years at Briggs & Stratton, Mrs. Schmidt became a stay-at-home mom and started a home day care center she ran for more than 30 years.  

She was a licensed nail technician, and her family said she enjoyed crocheting afghans and blankets and tracing her family genealogy.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her husband Greg of Port Washington; children Andrew (Amber) of Saukville, Amanda (Jason) Kloppmann of Mequon, and Brittany (Colin) Halladay of Grafton.

She is further survived by grandchildren Bryson, Madison, Aiden, Brooklyn, Cameron, Peyton and Maddi; siblings Ralph (Cindy) Clarke of New Port Richey, Fla., and Mike (Krysta) Clarke and Jack Clarke, both of Grafton; and brothers and sisters-in-law Dave (Laura) Schmidt of Franklin, Jeff Schmidt of St. Francis, Jo Ellen (Terry) Ewert of Greendale and Rob (Michael Thompson) Schmidt of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Kim Larson; and brother and sister-in-law Richard and JoAnn Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington.  The Rev. Linda Westphal Buth will officiate.  

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until the service.

Memorials are suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Ozaukee Campus.
