Justice and generosity were their jobs this holiday season

In addition to keeping Ozaukee County’s justice system running smoothly, Clerk of Courts employees were on a mission this holiday season to brighten the lives of senior citizens who have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic by collecting gifts for them. The items — everything from large-print books to slippers — were donated to Lasata Care Center, the county’s nursing home in Cedarburg where residents have been isolated from relatives and friends for eight months, and Ozaukee Family Sharing, which is assembling gift bags for seniors. Holding some of the 11 bags of gifts they and their coworkers collected, as well as $180 that can be used to buy additional gifts or gift cards, were organizers of the gift drive (from left) Ellen Haggenjos, Becky Freeland, Hanna Karnitz and Nikki Jozwowski. Other employees who helped organize the drive were Kelly Cawly, Jackie McCoy, Marilyn Baunoch and Johanna Madland.
