John F. Goehring

Mr. John Goehring of Fredonia passed away at his home Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, following a short battle with cancer. He was 58 years old.

John was born in Sheboygan on Nov. 20, 1962, the son of Floyd and Lorraine Hartmann Goehring.  

He grew up in Fredonia (in the same house he presently lived in) and attended local schools, graduating from Random Lake High School, Class of 1981.

He continued his education at Waukesha Technical School and graduated from their diesel mechanic program in 1983.

Mr. Goehring had worked as a truck driver before becoming a diesel mechanic for Veolia/Waste Management in Sheboygan. He retired for medical reasons in 2011.

John was passionate about making replica models of dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks and was hoping to eventually recreate the fleet of trucks his father had for his business.  He would search out parts and decals to make his models as exact as possible.  

He enjoyed snowmobiling and camping and had been a big fan of dirt-track racing, particularly in Plymouth and Slinger. John followed Brad Mueller’s racing career over the years and liked being able to go into the pits to talk with the crew.

 Those left to cherish his memory include his soulmate Rhonda Landvatter; sister Bonnie (the late Dale) Egerer; brother Ken (Jenny) Bodner; and children of the heart Jodi Schmitt, Jason (Krista) Warner and Lynette Bornheimer.

He is further survived by nieces Mindy (Doug) Miller, Wendy (Dan) Weiss, Nikki (Tim) Bodner, Katie (Matt) Miller, and Kristen Bodner; nephews Matthew (Samantha) Egerer, Wayne (Darlene) Goehring, Todd (Cindy) Goehring, Bill (Caitlin) Bodner and Michael Bodner; grandchildren of the heart Chloe, Aston and Brody; other family members and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (the late Olive) Goehring and nephew Christopher Egerer.

A celebration of John’s life is being planned for a later date.

Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
