Joe Short

Mr. Joe Short of Fredonia passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at Heritage Health Services in Port Washington. He was 68 years old.

  Joseph was born in St. Charles, Ill., on Dec. 13, 1956, the son of William and Evelyn (nee Mathiew) Short. 

He attended local schools and graduated from St. Charles High School before continuing his education at a local trade school.

  On Sept. 26, 1980, Joe was united in marriage with Linda Paciora in St. Charles, Ill. The couple lived in Illinois, Arizona and Texas before moving to Fredonia in 1994.  

Joe was a maintenance mechanic at Kemp’s Dairy in Cedarburg for more than 20 years, retiring in 2022.

  Mr. Short was a member at Divine Savior Parish. A former village president of Fredonia, he also enjoyed fishing and sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Linda of Fredonia, their son Nathaniel Short of Franklin and granddog Niko. He is further survived by sisters Brenda Fay (George) Mulvaney and Louise Owens, brothers George Short and William “Billy” Short, brother-in-law Lenny Paciora, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.  

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosemary, brothers James “Jimmy” Banagan, Phillip Banagan and Gene Short.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy. B, Belgium. Father Don Thimm will preside over the Mass. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until Mass begins at 2 p.m.
