JoAnn Barbara Johnson

JoAnn Barbara Johnson (nee Passamani) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023.

JoAnn was born in Bates Township, Mich., on July 8, 1939, to Robert and Norma (nee Kanivilla) Passamani.

After graduation, she attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor before moving to Wisconsin, where she met her husband of 35 years Donald (Tony) Johnson. They married on Oct. 10, 1962.

After the birth of their first child, Charles Johnson, they moved to Port Washington and had three daughters, Tracey (Tom) Sperber, Elisabeth (Lee) Kratzer and Christina (Scott) Bretl.

JoAnn is survived by her children and her seven grandchildren, Haley and Marcus (Marissa) Sperber, Dakota and Lily Kratzer and Aimee (Ethan and Lesil), Haley (Scott) Glidden and Kelsey (Cavin) Thomas, who will forever miss their Nonna. Soon after her death she also became a bisnonna to Cole Glidden and Magnolia Sperber. She would have loved to have met these beautiful babies.

The family will be celebrating JoAnn’s life with an open house on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Port Washington Yacht Club, 430 N. Lake St. in Port Washington. The family will welcome guests starting at noon. There will be a brief ceremony at 1 p.m. If anyone would like to say a few words, the family would welcome your memories. We will be offering light finger foods and (if you knew JoAnn) a selection of great desserts.

In lieu of flowers, JoAnn requested donations be made to St. Benedict the Moor Parish, 930 W. State St., Milwaukee, WI 53233.
