Jeronald (Jerry) Waldschmidt

Jeronald (Jerry) Waldschmidt was welcomed into the arms of Our Lord on Jan. 28, 2026, at the age of  85 years.

Born to Elmer and Luella (nee Schmitt) Waldschmidt on Sept. 5, 1940, Jerry was the youngest of seven children.

He attended St. Monica’s Grade School, Messmer High School, the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and St. Francis Seminary.

After years of teaching at St. Luke’s Grade School, Mount Mary College and St. Charles Boys Home, he worked at Heritage Insurance Co. in Sheboygan and MGIC in Milwaukee until he retired.

Jerry is survived by the love of his life, Helen (nee Egerman), whom he married on July 27, 1968. He was a loving father to Jennifer Scanlon of Switzerland, Stephanie Rossi (Peter) of Brookfield, Wis., and Michael (Michelle) of De Forest, Wis., and was a wonderful papa to his grandchildren Andrew Rossi, Jonathan Rossi, Alexandra Rossi, Ryan Scanlon, Aiden Scanlon and Aoife Scanlon.

He is further survived by his sister Janet Swiderski, sisters-in-law Ginny Symons, Marion Hall and Jean Cassarie, brother-in-law Donald Hall and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jerry’s faith and his family were of primary importance to him. Known for his friendliness and good sense of humor, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, other family members and friends, building furniture, working on a lathe, traveling and listening to myriad genres of music.

Jerry was a longtime member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton, Wis., where he was a member of the Men’s Club and the Parish Council, called bingo, read to 4-K students, taught religious education and worked on various other committees.
