James McQuinn

James E. McQuinn, 79, died at his Port Washington residence Sunday, Sept. 23.
Mr. McQuinn was born in Columbus, Ind., on Nov. 6, 1938, to Gilbert and Helen Souvikroop McQuinn.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1981, retiring as a major.
On Dec. 27, 1963, Mr. McQuinn married Barbara Smiley in Greenwood, Ind.
After retiring from the Army, he worked in non-appropriated funds at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He later worked at Coleman American Movers, retiring as the manager of the San Diego site.
Mr. McQuinn was a member of the Saukville American Legion, Saukville Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge in Newton, Ala., and the Military Benefits Association.
His family said he was an avid bowler and served as a sports official for baseball, softball, soccer, football and basketball.
Mr. McQuinn is survived by his wife Barbara of Port Washington; daughters Lisa (Ron Phulps) Mills of Santa Ana, Calif., Jai (Gurameet Singh) Khalsa of the Bronx, N.Y., and Helen Fletcher of Port Washington; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters Kay Sinkhorn of Indianapolis, and Jacqueline Hartman of Greenfield, Ind.; and brother Danny of Carmel, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his sons James and Stuart.
A celebration of life ceremony with military honors will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington.
