James H. Schleg

James H. Schleg passed away at his residence in Port Washington early Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024.

The son of Theodore “TW” and Elnore (nee Louzinsky) Schleg, James was born in Green Bay on Dec. 4, 1938.

Jim graduated from Sheboygan Central High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy as a beachmaster with the 2nd and 6th Fleets.

He married Beverly Dommer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington in August 1963.

Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a master’s degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon.

He taught history and sociology at Cedarburg High School from 1965 through 2001.

James is survived by his children Yvonne (Russell) Klotz of Port Washington, Stephanie Schleg of Sheboygan, Thomas (Amy) Schleg of Saukville and Rachel (Paul) Kleczka of Chandler, Ariz. He is further survived by nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.

James was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, parents, brother Tom (Fran) Schleg and sister Penny (Gene) Wawrzyniak.

Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, at River of Life Lutheran Church, 598 Hillcrest Rd. in Saukville. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until services begin at 7 p.m.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife the next day at Union Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to CALMS (Central American Lutheran Mission Society) in Jim’s name are suggested.
