James “Jim” Tolle

James “Jim” Tolle of Fredonia, Wis., went to his heavenly home the morning of Sept. 3, 2026.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1938, to Everett and Marie (nee Mergen) Tolle. Jim graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1957.

Jim was united in marriage to Colleen Roseman on Sept. 15, 1962, and together they raised four children. They remained together for almost 30 years.

Jim spent almost all his life as a farmer. He was hardworking and took extraordinary pride in his work. Outside of farming as his career, he found joy in gardening, tending to his flowers, fruits and vegetables. Every fall, Jim would make several batches of tomato juice and his famous salsa from vegetables grown in his garden to share with friends and family. He also had a passion for baking and was known for his cinnamon rolls and birthday cakes.

Jim enjoyed attending fish fries with family and friends and spending time with his neighbor Dan, sharing long conversations on the porch. He was known as someone who enjoyed to “watch life pass by” and was compassionate, selfless and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.

Jim is survived by his children Dennis (Kristen) Tolle, Timothy (Chris) Tolle and Denise Tolle; his grandchildren Dayeton, Joelle and Lexi; his brothers Richard (Frindee) Tolle and Robert (Kathy) Tolle; Colleen and her sister Sherry (Art); and a special friend of the family, Carol. He is further survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jane and son David.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Jim, memorials can be made to Kathy Hospice in West Bend.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate staff at Kathy Hospice for their care of Jim as well as the care team at Froedtert Hospital.

Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family.
