Jacob Runkel
Jacob Runkel of Belgium, formerly of Port Washington, a beloved son, brother and father, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at his residence. He was 22 years old.
Jacob was born on March 20, 2003, in Mequon, the oldest son of Thomas and Sarah (nee Holzer) Runkel.
He grew up in Port Washington and attended Port Washington High School, where he played basketball and ran track and field. He graduated with the Class of 2021.
Jacob worked hard at all his occupations.
Jacob had a love for the great outdoors. Whether he was traversing woods and fields while hunting, casting a line into calm waters while fishing or enjoying a sunny day on the golf course, Jacob embraced nature’s beauty with open arms and an infectious joy. His laughter and enthusiasm for life will be missed but never forgotten.
Jacob is survived by his daughter Oaklynn, his parents Thomas and Sarah and his two brothers, Caleb and Eli. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
A celebration of life to honor Jacob will take place on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, from noon to 6 p.m, at the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Hall, 435 Lake St., Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Jacob’s family for the future education of his daughter.
