Howard ‘Howie’ Thiede

Howard Louis “Howie” Thiede, retired police chief of Grafton, was born to eternal life on Aug. 20, 2022, at the young age of 89 years.

Howard was born on Dec. 7, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wis.

He joined the Marine Corps at the age of 18.

Howie married Marilyn Driebel, his childhood sweetheart, in 1954.

Howard was a very hardworking husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He loved his dog Ari, flower gardening and painting.

Howard will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn (nee Driebel); his loving children  Renee’ (Don Walsh) Telindert, Rhonda (Wayne) Klug and Rochelle Frank; grandchildren Nicole Strysick, Crystal (Nick) Pulos, Ashley (Jeff) Schuette, Jarrett Frank, Mitchell Frank and Logan Klug; and great-granddaughters Ellie and Ava Schuette. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and a lot of friends.

A special thank you to Howard’s caregivers Debbie Owen and Amanda Moser, hospice nurse Kayla and Kathy’s Hospice.

Howard was preceded in death by his infant son Randy; his parents Mabel and Louis Thiede, brother Harold Thiede, sister-in-law Eileen Thiede, sister Virginia Froh and brother-in-law Pete Froh.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, 979 N. Green Bay Rd., Grafton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 623 Congress Dr., Newburg.

Interment will be at the church cemetery.
