Celebrate Grafton’s Holidaze will return to Lime Kiln Park on Saturday, July 3, after being canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Grafton Area Chamber Director Pam King said the festivities are scaled back this year but she is glad the community will be able celebrate Independence Day.

Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. From 5:30 p.m. to dusk, there will be live music performed by The Playlist on the Bridge Stage.

At 6 p.m., the Grafton Historical Society will host a cornhole tournament near the lime kilns.

There will also be a rock, paper, scissors tournament organized by the Grafton Parks and Recreation Department near the Zaun Pavilion.

Participants are asked to pre-register for both tournaments at www.grafton-wi.org.

At dusk, there will be a fireworks show.

Throughout the celebration, there will be a concession stand in the Zaun Pavilion and a beer tent next to the Bridge Stage. Proceeds will go toward next year’s fireworks show.

“Our fireworks company reminded us that we are the largest community-funded fireworks show in the State of Wisconsin,” King said.

Prior to the festivities, there will be a parade in downtown Grafton. The procession starts at 11 a.m. on Ninth Avenue and will end at the Paramount Plaza.

King said members of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band will appear in the parade and perform their Fifth Quarter show in the Paramount Plaza.

King added Celebrate Grafton is seeking volunteers to wear costumes and carry banners and flags for the parade. Anyone  interested should email sarah@grafton-wi.org or call 377-1650.
