Herbert F. Muecke

Herbert F. Muecke, age 89 years, of Fredonia passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, May 2, 2026.

He was born in Upper Silesia, Germany, the beloved son of Johann and Lucie (Cappek) Muecke on Jan. 28, 1937.

He moved to Wisconsin in 1957 with his siblings and later married the love of his life, Patricia Pauls, who he met when he joined the Gesangverein Concordia, on April 29, 1961, in Sheboygan.

Herb was an artist and a hard worker. Generous, curious, patient and meticulous, he was a jack of all trades and learned new skills as the interest or need arose. He played guitar, collected stamps, apprenticed as a carpet weaver and dreamed of becoming a decorative porcelain painter in Germany.

After immigrating to the United States, he worked for Passini Cheese Factory, at Kohler Co., as a sewing machine repairman at Eagle Knitting Mills, produced soda cans at American Can Co. and assembled control panels at Rockwell Automation in Mequon, where he retired after 12 years in 2000.

Herbie and Patty were charter members of the Northern Ozaukee Ambulance, enjoyed bowling, golf outings and playing cards with their friends.

After Patty’s passing in 2006, he loved going to watch their grandchildren excel in various sports, visiting with neighbors and his beloved family and volunteering with the Fredonia Lions Club. He was a member of Parkside Community United Church of Christ.

Herbert is survived by his children David, Michael (Tracy) and Jennifer Muecke, grandchildren Cassidy, Michael, and Kaitlin, great-grandchildren Daelan and Willow and his brother Gerhard Muecke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia; two brothers, Deiter and Walter (Annelore) Muecke; one sister, Barbara (John) Reineke; sister-in-law Judy; and a stepsister, Hilda (Peter) Kattner.

A memorial service for Herbert will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 6706 Superior Ave., Kohler, WI 53044. The family will greet relatives and friends at the chapel from 11 to 11:30 a.m., with his inurnment to take place immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice through the Fredonia Lions Club.
