Helping safely transport young patients

Port Washington’s ambulances are equipped with new child restraints thanks to donations from the Van Ells Schanen American Legion Post 82 and the Tom and Joann DeMerit family. The new restraints replace inflatable child seats that the department used until regulations changed and they were no longer allowed. The new restraint system was demonstrated by 4-year-old Henry Eibs while (from left) his father Mike and uncle Eric Eibs, both emergency medical technicians, and Post 82 Commander John Jacque watched.                                         Photo by Sam Arendt
